Employment & Volunteer Support Services.

Volunteering impact and hold our community together, this will allow the youth and young adult to connect with their communities and make it a better place, and also build health relationship with the community. The employment and volunteer support services conduct need assessments on individual youth and young adult to get employment and volunteer placements. Youth and young adult will work with community organizations, employees, and corporations to find employment and volunteer positions. This will also help with:
  • Improved self-esteem.
  • A sense of accomplishment.
  • Build networks.
  • Understanding responsibilities as a youth and young adulthood.
  • Increased employment and improved supervisory skills.

 

Homework And Tutoring Program

Some parents find it difficult and some are unable to help their children with schoolwork or home work. Sometime children are more receptive to working school struggles with another person. Tutoring can help strengthen subject comprehension, build confidence, and learning skills. Students receive individualized attention that they don’t get in a crowded classroom, which helps children who struggle to keep up in class, and those who aren’t challenged enough.

  • It can increase high school graduation rates.
  • Better school attendance among children, youth, and young adults.
  • It can lower or decrease high school dropout rates.
  • Better and positive attitude at school and about continue education.
  • It can increase higher college enrollment rates and higher educational aspirations.
  • It can also decrease violent behavior or getting involved in violent situations.

“No Longer Lost” Program.

The “No Longer Lost” Program will provide a safe space for children, youth, and young adult to share their struggles, difficult experiences, and issues with their peers. IHF will provide the platform for them, provide counseling and mental health services. Some youth and young adult sometimes experience “personal lost and feel hopeless with self and life. IHF will also provide advocacy support for the children, youth, and young adult through the “No Longer Lost” program.

 

Youth Outreach Program

The Youth Outreach Program, will provide services and support within our schools and community for youth. The outreach worker will work with individual youth experiencing difficulties in school, social, youth homelessness, survivors, and community violence. They will also support youth with community services and  barriers they encounter. They will also work to protect and prevent gender base, and any form of discrimination among youth, and young adults

"Sankofa” Program

Sankofa (Twi) is an African word from the Akan tribe in Ghana, meaning “go back and get it.” A symbol of the wisdom of learning from the past to build for the future. From the Akan proverb, “Se wo were fi na wosan kofa a yenkyiri,” meaning, “It is not taboo to go back for what you forgot (or left behind).” This program involves Youth and Young adult leaning from their origins and travelling around the World learning their past, history and culture. The youth and young adult will showcase their learned experience through a community presentation project.
